Visiting Jacksonville & Northeast Florida

Wintertime travelers head to Jacksonville and other northeast Florida communities like Yulee and Palatka to soak up the Sunshine State’s sun. Thanks to Florida's most abundant resource, opportunities for outdoor adventures await at sandy beaches and beyond. Even better, the people of northeast Florida welcome winter visitors with a variety of family-friendly recreation, hosting college and pro sports games, community festivals, cultural events, and more.

It's a great time to explore the rich character of northeastern Florida’s communities and countryside while avoiding the humidity the region is known for in the summer. Jacksonville visitors aren’t far from charming towns like StarkeGainesville, and Ocala – and countless roadside attractions promise plenty to stop and stretch your legs on this driving tour.

Looking to party this NYE? Look no further than the 2016 New Year's Eve Celebration in Downtown Jacksonville. Starting at 4 p.m. the Jacksonville Riverfront plays host to live music on the Coca-Cola Riverfront Stage, along with local food and drink vendors, and more – all culminating in a midnight fireworks show to officially ring in 2017.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are fighting to be recognized as playoff contenders as they near the end of the 2016 NFL season. Check the schedule for your chance to catch hard-hitting NFL action with Jaguars fans at EverBank Field – the last home game is December 24th, against the Atlanta Falcons.

Sports fans and students from all over the country gather at EverBank Field for the 2017 TaxSlayer Bowl. The festivities surrounding the game span two fun-filled days, January 1st and 2nd. Even if you can’t score tickets to the big game, be a part of the party at Jacksonville Landing.

Nature lovers known the Palm Coast area boasts more than 125 miles of hiking, biking, and walking trails, yielding plenty of opportunities for birding. On February 6th and 7th, bird watchers flock together at the 2017 Birds of a Feather Festival to enjoy a variety of exciting and educational highlights like Shorebirds at Matanzas Inlet and the Big Trip to Talbot Island State Park.
