Are you traveling with your golf clubs? Be sure to sneak in a round of 18 at Costa Greens Golf Course in Miami, or the Boca Lago Golf Course in Boca Raton. If you’re staying further inland, Clewiston is home to the Clewiston Golf Course – 18 holes and a par 72.
Lace up those hiking boots and head over to Castellow Hammock Park and Deering Estate at Cutler, part of the Miami-Dade County Parks and Preserves system with 2.5 miles of hiking trail.
A short drive north from Miami you’ll find the Big Cypress National Preserve, Cypress Swamp, and Marsh Trails, a charming little hiking and walking area. Sterling wildlife views, and even alligator sightings have made Cypress Swamp a very popular destination. Make the short drive from West Palm Beach or Jupiter.
Enjoy the scenic and swift drive from Port Saint Lucie and Fort Pierce and check out Lake Okeechobee. Perfect for a day of fishing and tooling around on the boat, Lake Okeechobee features roughly 730 square miles of surface area making it the largest freshwater lake in Florida.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Everglades National Park covers over 1.5 million acres. Head to the Royal Palm Visitor Center or Shark Valley Visitor Center before setting out on paths like Anhinga Trail and Gumbo Limbo Trail. Lengthier trails consist of Snake Bight, Rowdy Bend, and Christian Point, while other activities include cycling Shark Valley Bike Trail and LPK Bike Trail, plus fishing, boating, and some unique wildlife viewing.
Of course you'll want to head down the Florida Keys Scenic Byway to Key West. Enjoy outdoor tours of famous stops like Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park and the nearby Dry Tortugas National Park. Plenty of bike and walking tours are found throughout the Keys as well.
